Competition!

We had local fine arts competition on Tuesday, and Adam won first in the elementary spelling bee! Everyone keeps asking me why he didn't do it the last two years, and I just have to tell them that I told the teachers that he needed to do it, but somehow they picked others to be in it. So now, we're on to state in Murfreesboro March 13-14. We are going to study those words more now--he's bound to have some tough competition at state!

We are also preparing for Master Clubs Regional competition March 1 in Springfield, TN. Adam and Molly are going to be competing in several individual events representing East Side, as well as filling in some spaces on Central's relay teams. Adam is doing individual quizzing, which he should be able to dominate! ;) I was trying to think of something that Molly could do to help insure that she would come home with at least one ribbon, when I remembered that there were no entries last year in the third grade missionary biography presentation. So I brought that up to her, and she was all for it! As long as she could do a story about China...ya know, like Emma! (Our friends have a daughter that was adopted from China, and Molly adores her.) She said that I needed to make her a "China suit" too. OK...one more thing to add to my to-do list. She wants to do a puppet presentation too with another little girl that is going, so we are also working on that. I'm researching how and where to get my camera repaired so that I can take pictures and video.

Molly has her birthday party all planned out. (Yes, it's not until September 1st.) She's even made up invitations. The place is China Royal, her favorite restaurant, and everyone is instructed to wear a "China suit." I explained to her that everyone is not going to have a "China suit," and she said, "Well, their moms can make them one!" After explaining to her that not all moms know how to sew, I got the inevitable response: "YOU can make them all China suits!" Um.....no.
